It's All About the Customer and Your Service
Arizona American Water company provides water to Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand and Surprise AZ. They operate in 32 states including Ontario Canada. Their mission statement is to proudly serve their customers. After my experience with one of their employees, I can attest that they are achieving their goals they have set for their organization.
A few days ago I called a friend to remind her that I would be available if she had any problems with the upcoming rain. In the process of our conversation my friend, an octogenarian, told me that she was going to drive her golf cart over to Arizona American Water to pay her water bill. Considering that the rain was fore-casted and that I had not seen her in a few weeks, I decided to pick her up for lunch and later take her to do her chore.
A smile goes a long long way! Customer service and customer loyalty is an integral ingrediant in any business. There are many things we can do the make the customer feel good and feel that their requirements and needs are addressed. We adjust our behaviors according to each client. Our presentation is a critical part of our success. Most clients do not want pushy aggressive sales persons or those sales people who interrupt their conversation and definitely not those with an "attitude" or an "agenda".
There were two people ahead of us when we walked into the payment center on 15626 North Del Webb Boulevard in Sun City. Only one payment window was open, I assumed that they were on a staggered lunch. I sat on a comfortable chair as I waited for my friend to make her payment.
The teller, Fernando greeted us as we entered with a wide smile and said he would be right with us. His smile was contagious. I observed him as he received payments from the two people before us. How can I help you he asked each customer. One customer wrote two different numbers on their check. He politely showed the customer how to correct it. When servicing the next customer, Fernando counted back money, the traditional way in which most retirees are accustomed to receiving change. He asked both customers if there was anything else that he could help. The second customer asked for water saving techniques. Fernando presented the him with a booklet entitled "Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert". He thanked each customer for their payment.
Fernando repeated his outstanding customer service with my friend. "Thank you for your payment Mrs. Morris." As we left the building I asked my friend why she didn't mail in the payment, knowing that she did not use a computer. Her response, I just love these helpful people and want to be sure that they got paid right away. Yes, she received the bill earlier in the morning.
