If you are looking to find a good sushi restaurant in Phoenix, I highly recommend that you try Akai Hana Sushi and Grill. This gem is located on the corner of Northern Avenue and I-17, a centrally located sushi bar that is a local favorite. I've met many people from my home state of Hawaii eating at Akai Hana. It's known for its fresh authentic sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine.
Akai Hana is Japanese for "red flower". This sushi bar has be operational in Phoenix since 1986. Originally known as Mr. Sushi, Akai Hana specializes in a wide assortment of nigiri (fish over rice), sashimi (only fish), tekka (traditional rolled sushi), and handrolls.

The sashimi is fresh. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. The service is fast, servers are polite and knowledgeable of the menu. Go early, this small quaint restaurant fills quickly.

Lunch hours are from 10 to 2. Dinner is served from 5pm to 9pm. Happy Hour is between 4pm and 6pm, the specials are amazing!
If you have a sushi addition, try Akai Hana in Phoenix. Akai Hana does have a sushi bar in Goodyear. I prefer the Phoenix location, being able to meet my Hawaii friends who live in the area. Surprise Arizona and Sun City Grand residents, if you’re a coinsurer of sushi or Japanese food, take the 20 minute drive into Phoenix, you’ll be glad that you did.
