Ohana means family in Hawaiian. Life revolves around family wherever you go. Periodically Big Island schools open their doors for parents and grandparents to have lunch with their children and grandchildren. This week I was able to go to Honokaa Elementary school to have lunch with my cousin’s grandson. My cousin passed away earlier this year and his grandson’s mother was working. My cousin's wife was having lunch with their other grandchild. Aha, here comes Leolinda to the rescue. It was a wonderful time seeing my cousin’s grandson at school. While there, I visited with my other cousin's two sons who resemble their dad when he was young.
I had lunch was the rascal one on the right. It’s always a nice time to visit and see family with a great feeling when the children are happy to see you. They call me auntie for respect, after all we are Ohana.
